Priyanka Chopra is a pro traveler, and a legendary airport shopper.
Her very unique set of skills was born out of necessity during a travel nightmare, she tells PEOPLE: “I was stuck at Frankfurt airport once for 24 hours,” the Quantico star says at an event to promote Booking.com’s first-of-it’s-kind hotel suite inside the Empire State Building. “It’s a large airport, but there’s not much you can do. I spent 24 hours just walking around duty free stores and eating s–t. That trip was cursed. It was a disaster.”
The isolation did breed some creative shopping, however. “We bought so much stupid stuff — tee shirts, shot glasses. I have a tic tac toe with shot glasses that I bought,” she admits, adding that she still uses the signature gift shop find to this day. “It’s my prized possession on my bar in my house.”

Now, the globe-hopping actress — who names Australia’s salt flats and France’s volcanic Reunion Island among her favorite destinations — does all her shopping in airports: “I buy absurd things,” she says.
She also owns up to almost missing a flight because she got carried away in the Chanel store near her gate.
When it comes to her adoptive hometown of New York, Chopra has one must-do activity: securing a stay in the city’s most exclusive accommodation. “If you want the quintessential New York tourist experience, this suite is that,” she says of Booking’s one-of-a-kind offering on the 77th floor of the Empire State Building. “This is a once in a lifetime opportunity, which is really cool.”
The suite, part of the travel site’s “Book the U.S. List” of unique stays, is the first overnight accommodation ever offered in the landmark building, and is available for one traveler and a guest at $1,500. Reservations are open for the next 24 hours only and include dinner on the 86th floor’s open-air observation deck and private after-hours access, a VIP tour of the building and sunrise yoga overlooking the Manhattan skyline.
The Empire State Building suite is available to book now. Quantico returns to ABC April 26.
