The Black-Ish star took the red carpet ahead of hosting the show, dressed in a long-sleeve red sequin gown by Stella McCartney with Tamara Mellon heels.
Of course, that won’t be her only outfit for the night. The star spoke to People ahead of the event, and while she could only tease that the show would be “really fun,” she did hint that we could expect some major style moments throughout the evening.
“You know I love clothes. I’m a style girl, I’m a fashion girl,” she tells People after recently launching her own clothing line in JC Penney. “Often I dress myself but for occasions like this I work with the extraordinary Karla Welsh and she and I have been cooking up a storm.”
The first change? An over-the-top orange iridescent pleated Ronald van der Kemp gown with a sleek updo.
Next up: An ice-blue fringed beaded shift with turquoise jewelry.
She wore a white crop top and large tulle ballgown with an asymmetric hemline and over-the-knee Aldo boots.
She then wore statement boots with a sequin jumpsuit and wine lip.
Of course, a fashion tribute to her mother Diana Ross, whom she honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award during the show, was on the docket – and she went one step beyond a tribute, actually wearing a shirt from her mom’s 1981 performance with Michael Jackson that she found in her mom’s garage.
She wore a bodysuit with sheer overlay and a floral crown with minimal jewelry.
She then went full diva in a black gown with oversized, shaggy white floor-length coat.
